The Eurostampi headquarters covers a 1,800 sq m area, where each department is equipped with the most modern and innovative machine tools, the result of continuous business investments in industry 4.0 designed to automate the various business processes of mould construction and moulding.
In fact, the company has decided to rely on advanced production management systems to maintain competitiveness in a complex and competitive market, implementing an MES (Manufacturing Execution System), which allows to:
- efficiently manage production, to avoid waste and guarantee quality products for customers
- collect data and accurately calculate costs
- optimize time and resources, guaranteeing margins to orders
Automated machining and processing in 4.0
Transition 4.0 involves all Eurostampi business departments, such as:
- the mechanical workshop, with machine tools (milling machines, lathes, erosion) and two manual workstations
- the plastic moulding, where presses and dehumidifiers are located
- the quality control department
- the offices and other work environments to ensure the well-being of staff
There are 21 machines connected through the MES system, using various communication protocols.
The two workbenches are also equipped with a declaration terminal for manual data entry by the operator. In this way, assembly and processing activities are also monitored for improved calculation of production times and costs.
Management of orders, monitoring of works and costs
The adoption of the MES allows Eurostampi not only to collect data but also to effectively manage orders thanks to direct communication between its offices and the factory. The order, in fact, becomes the reference for each phase, from design to shipment:
- the design of the single mould is divided into macro-parts on the basis of which production is planned;
- the technical office then sends the drawing of the piece directly to the terminal on the machine of the operator, who also receives the work order;
- here, processing begins and the MES system records the data by associating it with the specific order.
Once the mould is completed, the order is closed and the MES returns a detailed table of the machines used and the costs incurred, calculated by taking into account the cost of personnel, machines, energy used, etc.
